Tomorrow is Bike to Work Day!

May 20, 2011 is national Bike to Work Day! Here in Connecticut, we have had rain for the past four days, so we can only hope that the weather will be more cooperative tomorrow. Right now the forecast looks a little more promising. Not everyone works in Hartford, but there are plenty of activities tomorrow to celebrate Bike to Work Day. May is also National Bike Month!
There will be escorted bike rides leaving from various points tomorrow. Cyclists can meet at specified locations and get an escorted trip to the Capitol for a rally for bicycling in Connecticut.
Here are some of the starting points and times:
- South Windsor: 7:15 at Bicycles South Windsor at 798 Sullivan Avenue
- Vernon: 7:15 at Pedal Power at 520 Hartford Turnpike
- Glastonbury: 7:30 at Bicycles East at 331 New London Turnpike
Check your local bike shop for other starting times and locations.
If you are west of the river, Blue Back Square is kicking off the day with free breakfast snacks, raffles, and celebrity speakers from 6:30 to 7:30. There will also be refreshments at the Capital from 7:30 to 8:30, with the rally starting at 8:15.
Get fit, save on gas, enjoy the fresh air, help the environment!
Ride a bike!
