What Are You Grateful for Today?

What are you grateful for today?

What are you grateful for?

This morning was the first morning in six days that I was able to make coffee in my kitchen.  I was replacing the countertops which required removing the sink and faucet, so for the past week, I had to get water from the bathroom, wash dishes in the tub, and eat mainly cold food so I didn't have to wash any pots or pans.  This morning as I filled up the coffee pot from the kitchen sink, I realized that I am grateful for some of the small things that I take for granted.  So then I started thinking about what else I am grateful for.

Most of the time, I don't think about it BECAUSE I take it for granted.  I might give a glancing thought to some tragedy in the world and be glad that I am not there, but it barely gets the attention in my mind that it should.  Like most people, I think, I am focused on the day's tasks and how to fit as much into the day as possible.

My daughter and I watched Matt Cutts' video on YouTube on trying something new for 30 days.  If you haven't seen it, you should because it is very inspirational.  He has written several blog posts about all the new things he is going to do for 30 days, one of which was to write down one thing he is grateful for every day for 30 days.  My daughter decided that she too would like to write down one thing she is grateful for each day for 30 days.  After doing anything for 30 days, it may just become a habit--at least she is hoping that is the case.

I think she is on to something here.  There are many things we can try for 30 days, but finding something to be grateful for should be an easy one.  We just have to think about it and write it down.

Day 1:  I am grateful for my kitchen sink.

What are you grateful for today?
