Ready for a Road Trip?
I don't know about you, but there is something about hibernating all winter that just makes me want to get in the car and drive! I have always loved road trips--I think because they represent the ultimate freedom and because I have such great memories of them.
Just this morning in the newspaper, I read that the National Trust for Historic Preservation named their Dozen Distinctive Destinations for 2011. For the past twelve years, the National Trust selects twelve locations that offer more than the usual vacation experience in terms of recreation, culture, and sense of place. This year's winners are:
- Alexandria, Virginia
- Chapel Hill, North Carolina
- Colorado Springs, Colorado
- Dandridge, Tennessee
- Eureka, California
- Muskogee, Oklahoma
- New Bedford, Massachusetts
- Paducah, Kentucky
- San Angelo, Texas
- St. Paul, Minnesota
- Sheridan, Wyoming
- Sonoma, California
For more information, visit the website of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. You can also cast your vote for your favorite destination.
One of these great destinations is probably within driving distance. Anyone ready for a road trip?
