I like tofu. My husband doesn't. But last night, I decided to make a tofu dish that sounded really good, and I thought I might just be able to convince him that tofu could be delicious. So I prepared Szechuan Tofu and Green Bean Stir-Fry from the latest issue of Eating Well. I thought it was absolutely amazing, but my husband didn't like it at all, which was really surprising to me because he usually eats anything (good news for both of us!). And even if something is not his favorite, he will usually say that it is OK.

But with this dish, it was an emphatic "no way!" Although he thought the sauce was tasty and the beans were nicely stir-fried, he just couldn't get past the tofu.
So this morning as I was looking at the leftovers, it occurred to me that real estate and tofu have a lot in common. If buyers think your house is like tofu, I can't talk them into liking it. They may like one or two features, but they just can't swallow the whole package.
But that doesn't mean that your house won't sell; just as there are plenty of people who like tofu, there will be buyers who will love your house. It may take a little longer to find that buyer, but if you have done everything you can to present and market an attractive package, the right person will find it.
