For the last several months, my hometown newspaper the Journal Inquirer has printed an ad for a beautiful one-year old dog named Emily.
According to the ad, Emily is an affectionate, sweet, trained, healthy pit bull mix, and she tore at my heartstrings. My son has a similar dog (except Brother is male) and he really is so sweet! I would love to adopt Emily but I have a cat and a dog of my own and I may need to take in another dog. So everyday, I would hope that the ad wouldn't be there because someone had adopted her.
For a few weeks around the holidays, I noticed that the ad was gone and I was thrilled. But last week, the ads started again.
The Sadie Mae Foundation in an animal rescue organization that works to save animals from euthanasia in overcrowded shelters and pounds. It is a non-profit concern that relies on a small group of volunteers and charitable contributions. They are vigilant in ensuring that the animals are healthy and placed in suitable homes.
Here is a picture of Emily and her story - she is the featured dog on the right-hand side!
If you have been looking for a pet, would you please consider Emily?
