Leaf Collection Schedule in Manchester CT

Although we had our first snowfall yesterday, it's not time to think about winter yet! We still have leaves to rake up! Many of mine are still on the tree, so I am glad that leaf collection won't begin for a few more days. Manchester divides its leaf collection into two areas:
- AREA 1: Leaf collection begins November 7
- AREA 2: Leaf collection begins November 16
Area 1 is most of Manchester between 384 and 84 and between Parker/Woodbridge and the East Hartford town line. Leaf collection will begin north of Middle Turnpike followed by leaf collection south of Middle Turnpike.
Area 2 is all of the outlying areas.
Residents are reminded to rake leaves (and only leaves) to the curb, keeping sidewalks and storm drains free of leaves. Work crews will vacuum up the leaves only once and will not return to get your leaves if cars are blocking the leaf trucks from reaching the leaves. So be sure that your leaves are ready to be vacuumed by the start date.
If you happen to miss the leaf pickup, you can still have your leaves picked up on your regular garbage collection date if they are in paper bags. Paper bags may be purchased from the town or retail stores. Leaves will not be collected if they are in garbage bins or cardboard boxes. Leaves will be picked up at the curb in paper bags until January 15 and then starting again on March 15.
Manchester residents can also bring loose or bagged leaves to the landfill composting area Monday through Saturday, 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
