The Manchester Dog Festival will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Globe Hollow in Manchester CT from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, September 11, 2011.
The Manchester Dog Owners Group (MDOG) organizes the event as a festival and fundraiser for a future dog park in Manchester. The aim of the group is to raise awareness and educate the public about responsible dog ownership and provide recreational opportunities for dogs and their owners. One of the main events is the K-9 Kerplunk Dog Swim, but there are many other activities planned including:
- Contests, such as Best Kisser, Best Tail Wagger, and Weenie Retrieval
- Demonstrations of animal abilities
- Exhibits by vendors of educational and training tools
- Food vendors
- Animal adoption booths with information about adopting animals
- Raffle to raise money for MDOG and the future dog park
- Over 500 owners and their dogs!
