Back to School Information ~ Uniforms for Illing Middle School in Manchester CT
Last spring, the school board approved the policy requiring uniforms for Illing Middle School in Manchester CT. According to Illing Principal Troy Monroe, uniforms will eliminate distractions and promote an emphasis on learning.
Parents and students have had opportunities to purchase uniforms over the summer, but there will be a fifth and final in-school sale:
- When: Thursday, August 18,2011
- Where: Illing Middle School, School Cafeteria
- Times: 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
On Thursday, there will be polo shirts, sweaters, jackets, and sweatshirts with the Illing logo that students can try on and order. Boys and girls must wear solid color tops in blue, white or green. The approved vendor is Connecticut Shirt Man. Parents may purchase the uniform pants, skirts, and other bottoms in tan, black, or navy blue from a store of their choice. Approved footwear must be closed-toe shoes in black, brown, tan, gray, or white.
People who have already ordered uniforms may pick them up on Thursday as well. If parents and students are not able to make it on Thursday, they can still order from the school website. However, the start of school at Illing Middle School is August 31, 2011 so don't delay your purchase.
