Outdoor Movie at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor CT ~ FREE!

 

Free Movie Toy Story 3

Doesn't this sound like fun? On Friday, August 19, 2011, Toy Story 3 will be shown on a giant two-story blow-up screen at the Rockville Bank Park near L.L. Bean at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor.  Everyone is welcome and admission is FREE!

 

The movie starts at 8:30 but you can come early, set up your chairs or blanket, bring a cooler and relax while you are waiting for the movie to start.  Other free activities for kids before the movie include a moon bounce, prize wheel, face painting, and give-aways.  The festivities start at 6:30. 

 

Kettle corn will be available for purchase in the park or you can bring your own snacks.  If you don't feel like bringing your own picnic dinner or snacks, you can always check out one of the restaurants in Evergreen Walk, including Moe's, Burton's, Johnny Rockets, Bellini's, Ted's Montana Grill, Atlanta Bread, and others.

The Wapping Fair in South Windsor CT Starts Tomorrow

The Wapping Fair in South Windsor CT starts tomorrow.  If you are looking for something fun to do this weekend, go to the Wapping Fair right behind LA Fitness on Buckland Road in South Windsor.  The fair begins on Thursday, September 9 at 6:00 p.m. and continues until Sunday at 6:00 p.m.

This year is the 118th year for the Wapping Fair and they have certainly perfected the event.  The first fair was held in 1892; the fair was suspended in 1934 because of the Great Depression and began again in 1945. It has continued ever since.

One of the highlights of the fair for the children is the assortment of rides.  On Thursday night from 6-10 and on Sunday afternoon from 2-6, children can purchase a bracelet that entitles them to unlimited rides.  Other activities include games for all ages, booths, food, and entertainment.  This year's entertainment include music, a sword swallower, an acrobat/contortionist, and, of course, the hot dog dachshund races.

The Wapping FairThere is a full slate of animal judging contests as well as contests for just about everything else, including baking, canning, artwork, woodworking, quilting, talent, and so much more.

The hours are 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m on Thursday; 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Friday; 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday; and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.  Admission is $6 for adults and children over 57" (children under 57" are free) and $3 for seniors (65 and over).

On Thursday night, there is a special admission of $3 for adults and seniors. 

The fair is sponsored by the South Windsor Jaycees and proceeds are used to benefit many causes in the community, including food and fuel banks.
