Peggy Chirico ~ Hartford & Tolland County Real Estate Blog: Avery Street Neighborhood in Manchester CT

Avery Street Neighborhood in Manchester CT

Just off of Avery Street on the South Windsor/Manchester town line, is a small subdivision in the Robertson School District. Some of the streets are Baldwin, Bryan, Concord, Macintosh, Pond, Carman, and Cornwall.

Most of the homes were built in the 1950s and 1960s, but a few are newer.  Many of them have been substantially remodeled by subsequent owners.

Avery Street NeighborhoodOne of the things that draws people to this area is the layout of the roads. Most of the roads are not cul-de-sacs, but rather they circle around offering no reason for cars to cut through. The only people on the roads are those who live there or are visiting.  As a result, it is a great place for walking, running, or riding bikes.

The school district is Robertson Elementary School, which requires bus transportation.

This area offers easy access to I-84 as well as shopping and restaurant areas at the Buckland Hills Mall, nearby shopping plazas, and Vernon Circle.

There are a variety of home styles in this neighborhood, including split levels, colonials, capes, and ranches.  The lots are about a half-acre with plenty of mature trees and plantings.

Currently, there are only a few homes on the market:

  • 56 Concord Road:  A very well-kept and attractive cape with portico, decorative fence, attached sunroom, and wraparound deck.  With four bedroom, two baths, 1948 sq. ft., and a one-car detached garage, this home is move-in ready and priced at $242,500.
  • 78 Bryan Drive: Spacious colonial with three bedrooms and 2.1 baths on a .60 acre lot with a beautiful inground, covered porch, and family room addition.  Attached two-car garage. All for $279,900!
  • 20 Baldwin Road:  A classic colonial with 2064 sq. ft. Three bedrooms and two baths, formal dining room, and large eat-in kitchen.  But the real attraction is a huge garage--enough for eight cars.  Perfect for the car enthusiast!  Priced at $299,900.

Sales in the neighborhood included:

  • 45 Carman Road:  4BD, 3.1BA 2012 SF cape with inground pool and private yard sold for $260,000 on 3/2/10.
  • 44 Baldwin Road: 3BR, 1BA 970 SF ranch with a one-car attached garage sold for $155,000 on 2/12/10.
