Do You Watch Antiques Roadshow?

Antiques Appraisal Night

In this popular show, people bring their items to be appraised by antique experts.  Sometimes, people bring in their treasures, which turn out to be junk, and sometimes they hit the jackpot, much to their surprise.  The experts give a brief history lesson of each piece and the rationale for its value.

Now is your chance to find if the stuff in your attic is trash or treasure!  Prudential Connecticut Realty's Vernon office is holding

ANTIQUES APPRAISAL NIGHT

Scott Liscomb of A Family Heirloom in Ellington CT will be on hand to appraise your items.  Bring in old coins, art, gold, silver, jewelry, military items, baseball cards, china, toys, dolls, stamps, and just about anything you might have in the attic.

The event will be held at Prudential Connecticut Realty's office at 435 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, CT (in the Rein's Deli plaza) on November 3, 2011 (Thursday) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Each item appraised is $5 or bring three items for $10!  All proceeds from the event will be donated to The Sunshine Kids, an organization dedicated to helping kids with cancer.

The evening promises to be fun and informative--and all for a good cause.  And you just might learn that you have treasure in the attic!  For more information, call Prudential Connecticut Realty at 860-872-7777.

Do I occassionally watch Antiques Roadshow and enjoy it.  I think it's a great idea to meet community members at a community Antique Appraisal event organized by your office.

Paggy -- When I think of all the 'old' things I threw out through the years that now would have had some good value I can't believe what I trashed. At the time I was thinking I'll never use that or this is old. I have seen that show and I love it when people find they really do have a treasure.  Sounds like a fun event.  Something different.  Very creative. Hope you have a few treasures yourself!

Peggy some times when I am flipping channels I will come across one of these shows, and I can't believe what some of this stuff is worth.  Most of the time it looks like junk to me, but it is thousands of dollars in their eyes :)

Hi Lloyd - We are hoping for a good turnout--the money goes to a great cause!

Hi Barbara - I'm pretty sure I threw away some treasures too but I just don't want to think about it! I'm not sure what I will bring, but I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hi George - Especially what I think are obscure paintings--the last show I watched said a painting was worth $50,000!
